Dr. Robert Arnoldt and Dr. James Brask, the two subjects of the film, are Vietnam vets who co-teach a college class about the Vietnam War. They met in the early 1990s as professors (one in history and the other political science) and developed a class about the history and politics of the Vietnam War. Their work with students, in and out of the classroom, will be used to relate the story of this difficult war and to tell the complex story of their very different experiences as soldiers and veterans. Dr. Arnoldt served at the beginning of the war (1965-1967), and Dr. Brask served near the end (1970-1971).

Although their experiences were markedly dissimilar, they both found their path to reconciliation confirmed through teaching. In their classes they compare and contrast their war experiences and their sometimes-opposing opinions. The dynamic relationship of Brask and Arnoldt energizes these classes and makes them fascinating to watch. They regularly invite guest speakers to illustrate the wide breadth of the Vietnam experience and the variety of opinion on the subject. Guests in their classes have included American veterans, Vietnamese veterans, and anti-war activists such as Bernadine Dorn, a member of the Weathermen who was on the FBI most wanted list for 11 years. All guest speakers are being interviewed for the film.
